Sh2-142 Wizard Nebula

Description SH2-142, also known as the Wizard Nebula, is an emission nebula in the constellation Cepheus, associated with the young star cluster NGC 7380. It is a popular target for astrophotography, known for its reddish glow from ionized hydrogen and its distinctive shape, often resembling a sorcerer. The nebula is ionized by massive stars in the cluster, particularly the binary star DH Cephei.

Distances/Size Distance to the object: 5,545 light years; angular size in the sky is about 25’ (minutes); size of the nebula is about 20 light years in diameter
Equipment Mount-PlaneWave L-350; Scope-PlaneWave CDK14″, 356 mm aperture, 2563 mm focal length; Camera-Moravian C3-61000, 0.30 arcsec/pixel.
Observatory The image was captured at the Prairie Skies Astro remote observatory.

SHO and RGB filters, total exposure- 35 hours 2 min and 43sec

Ha: 600X54= 9 hours 0 min

O3: 600X54= 9 hours 0 min

S2: 600X54= 9 hours 0 min

G: 90X108= 2 hours 42 min

R: 90X108= 2 hours 42 min

B: 89X107= 2 hours 38 min 43 sec

Total: 35 hours 2 min 43 sec

Sequence management was performed using Voyager Astro software with the Voyager Advanced RoboTarget scheduler. Processing is done in PixInsight, Photoshop, and LightRoom Classic
